The spring season for AJRA’s Weekday and Weekend Developmental Squads will come to a close at an exhibition planned for Sat., May 7. The event will give our middle school rowers a chance to show what they have learned by competing in inter squad events along our home course on the Chattahoochee.
All rowers should report at 9:15 am to the Azalea Park pavilion. Races will begin at approximately 10 am, and we will conclude around noon with an end-of-season celebration. Parents and spectators are invited to attend to cheer for our rowers. Please bring a breakfast item such as bagels, muffins, fruit, etc. to share.

Note that regular practice times for D Squads will continue until Wed., May 4 for the Weekday session and until Sat., April 30 for the Weekend session. Participants in the spring Parent Learn to Row will also be part of the exhibition races May 7! Don’t miss this exciting event!

Congratulations AJRA Varsity Women!

This past weekend AJRA Varsity Women sent two boats to race against top-tier competition in the San Diego Crew Classic. Each boat was entered in a separate race which determined whether they would advance to the petite finals for their event or the grand finals.  The Varsity 8 placed fourth in their first race which sent them off to the petite finals. Likewise, the Junior Varsity 8 also made it to petite finals by placing fifth in their event.  Fighting alongside the best of the west, Atlanta’s V8 came in sixth place during the petite finals. The JV8 earned second place.

Coach Bryce gave our rowers big kudos for having the confidence and composure to get ourselves in every race.  While we came up a little short on strength and stamina, the VW come out of the event better prepared to drive toward SE Regionals.  Thanks to the following ladies for representing AJRA extremely well — V8:  Harper Lucas, Lindsay Sackellares, Maggie Nugent, Sarah Waye, Ali Bardowell, Katherine Christel, Emmeline Reed, Maddie Wilson, and Emma Murray; JV8:  Elizabeth Forestner, Meghan Paulo, Sarah Hudnall, Hannah Onians, Quinn Snyder, Lindsay Gibson, Christine Smith, Emily Hornberger, and Maggie Armstrong.
