AJRA rowers will take to the water for the first races of the Spring Season on March 3rd in a quad-race at Lake Lanier with Augusta Rowing, Capital City Rowing and St. Andrews.  These events will give our rowers valuable race experience and will help coaches see how our boats stack up this early in the season.

Varsity and Novice rowers should arrive at Lake Lanier by 11 am and are expected to stay through the loading of the trailer at the conclusion of racing.

Details will follow shortly along with a TENTATIVE SCHEDULE.

Please look for the AJRA tents and come cheer on our athletes.   We are looking forward to watching some great rowing!

Parent Social

February 8th, 2012 Posted by Club News 0 thoughts on “Parent Social”

Our Spring Season Parent Social is this Sunday night, February 12th, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.  This event is a “Pot Luck” so please bring an appetizer, a salad, or a dessert to share.  The social is a great opportunity to talk to the coaches and ask them any questions you may have.  Plus, you will meet many other parents that will be standing along the water’s edge with you.  We’ll have the drinks and paper goods covered so just bring your dish and we look forward to seeing you there!

The Parent Social will be held at the Inverness neighborhood clubhouse.

Directions: Leaving the AJRA Boathouse turn LEFT onto Azalea Drive and follow along the river to the light.  Stay on Azalea Drive and go STRAIGHT through the light into the Inverness neighborhood.  Take your 4th RIGHT onto Club Drive at the top of the hill.  There are only two homes on that road other than a large parking lot and the clubhouse.

Questions?  Please contact Karen Geng:  Karen.geng@aeroknotics.com

See you Sunday!

Varsity Women recruited to Top Colleges!

Congrats, Varsity Women recruits!

Five members of AJRA’s Varsity Women’s squad have signed NCAA national letters of intent to row at prestigious  crew programs — continuing the club’s record of athletes recruited by colleges at the highest levels of rowing and academics.

Three of the recruited rowers attend Roswell High School:  Katherine Christel, Stanford University; Lindsay Gibson, University of Southern California; and Harper Lucas, University of Tennessee.  Northview’s Quinn Snyder has committed to row at the University of Rhode Island, and Kelsey Webb, Johns Creek, will row at the University of Louisville.   Pictured left to right are AJRA Varsity Women’s Assistant Coach Julie McQueen, Christel, Snyder, Webb, Gibson, Lucas, and AJRA Varsity Women’s Head Coach Skye Elliot.  Congratulations, ladies!
